Planned Walgreens trip for 5/22

Here is what I plan on buying at Walgreens for next weeks sale. Note that I will also be using $10.00 that I recieved from this weeks trip to help my total go down.

(1) Little Swimmers - $6.99
(1) Proglide razor - $9.89 *$5.00 RR*
(3) Carefree liners - $0.99 with in-ad coupon
(1) Scunci Hairband - $2.00 *$2.00 RR*
(1) Tone Body wash - $3.99 *$3.00 RR*

total before coupons $25.84
total after coupons $4.84
plus I will be getting back a total of $10.00 back in register rewards. So not only will I be getting rewards for my next trip but its like I also made $5.16 in store money, or like some couponers like to say, the store paid me $5.16 to shop. There are many ways you can make a transaction work, this is just one way.

Where to get the coupons:
*little swimmers- you can pick up a walgreens savings booklet by the cashier and look for a $2.00 off the swimmers and combine that with a manufacture coupon  from the 5/15 insert for another $2.00 off
*proglide razor- you can find that in this months P&G insert from 5/1 for $4.00 off
*carefree liners- You can find a coupon for free carefree liners in the 5/8 insert. I got 5 of these but note the limit is only 3 so i will be grabbing 3 free carefree liners. And dont forget to clip the in-ad coupon to grab these for $0.99 cents
*For the hairbands and the tone bodywash I dont have coupons for which is ok with me because my register rewards from last week will help my total go down.

In conclusion I will be saving a total of $21.00. I will only be paying $4.84 for 7 items making each item about only $0.69 cents each.

My planned trip to Ralphs....5/19

So I don't normally do this for Ralphs but I decided to share my trip for tomorrow. This week they have a promotion for the frozen foods. Buy 10 participating items and recieve an instant $5.00 off. I ofcourse will be taking advantage of that! This trip was kind of frustrating because I tried to make it work and tried to stay under $2.00 like I have with their promotions for the last 2 weeks. But for some reason this week was a bit harder. Here it is:

The prices are without my savings cards so you can see how much it would be without my savings card and coupons.

(1) Magnum Ice Cream 3pk -$2.49
(2) Mamma Bella Garlic Bread - $2.49 = $4.98
(4) Aunt Jemima Frozen Waffels - $1.49 = $5.96
(3) Cool Wip - $1.49 = $4.47

total before savings cards & coupons - $17.90
total after savings cards ($5.00) - $12.90
total after coupons - $6.90

A total savings of $11.00. I guess that's not bad, its like paying $0.69 cents for each item.

Where to get the coupons.
*Magnum ice cream- if you go to http://www.ralphs.com/ and you have a savings card you can load a $2.00 off the 3-pk, when looking at the promotion, after you get the $5.00 off for buying the 10 items, the icecream is $1.99 so that means with this e-online coupon you'll be getting the ice cream for free.!
*Garlic Bread- I have a $0.50 cent off the bread that will double up to $1.00 from the 5/8 insert again after the promotion savings the bread will be $0.99 cents.
*Waffels- If you go to the aunt jemima on facebook, you can get a coupon for $1.00/2 after watching their 54 second video. You can print this twice so take advantage. After promotion savings for all 4 boxes it would be $1.96 or $0.49 cents each box.
*No coupon for the cool wip. I needed a few fillers so I tried to find the cheapest item to complete my order and make this trip as low as possible.

I will be updating tomorrow! ; )

What are store rewards?

Now that you know the basics about couponing lets get into the store rewards. Many of us are still confused about what store rewards are. CVS calls theirs, "extra bucks," Rite Aid calls theirs, "UP Rewards," and Walgreens calls theirs, "Register Rewards or RRs." Its the same with all 3 stores the only difference is the way they call their rewards. These store rewards are like money! Except its not green, its white. Treat these rewards as if they were treasure because its dollars off for your next purchase.  Now I'm sure you're thinking well how do you get them? Every week a new ad starts either on Fridays or Sundays. For example my Rite Aid starts a new sale every Friday while CVS and Walgreens start theirs on Sunday. Every Sunday a new ad comes out with their best sales for that week. For example a scenario at CVS, Buy (1) Lysol disinfecting spray at $3.99 and get $2.00 extra bucks. It's like getting this item for $1.99. Confused yet? Well because you will be getting $2.00 back in extra bucks its like CVS is paying you $2.00 in return for buying the Lysol for your next purchase. You can use those $2.00 extra bucks for $2.00 off next time. I like to save mine for the next week when I know they'll come in handy for another extra buck deal. To make a deal even better, you can also use manufacture coupons on rewards deals. So lets say you had a coupon for $1.00 the Lysol spray, you would pay $2.99 and get the $2.00 extra bucks but in the end instead of it being $1.99 after the extra bucks, the Lysol would be $0.99 cents. Because you used your coupon its making the deal even better. As time goes by and you start to get the hang of it, you will notice that reward deals are easier then they sound. Trust me. These are all my rewards from this week.
See how simple it is to make store money for dollars off your next visit.! I got $10.00 from Walgreens, $5.00 from CVS and $4.00 from Rite Aid. And don't forget, Walgreens, Rite Aid and CVS also have their store coupons that can be combined with manufacture coupons. You can grab a booklet at the register at Walgreens, scan your extra care card at the red machine at CVS and go to the rite aid video values site and watch videos for their coupons.

How to start couponing?

Many of us, including me, began asking the first question when thinking about couponing for the first time, "Where do I get coupons," "How do I start," "What do I need and need to know about couponing," and so on. First and foremost where to get coupons. I began buying the L.A. Times every Sunday ofcourse for $1.50. As time went by I kept noticing it was getting too expensive especially because I was only buying the paper for the coupons. I really didn't care for the newspaper itself at all only the coupons. So I started looking on ebay. There I found better deals. About 1 week ago I bought (5) inserts for as low as $4.99 plus shipping and handling. If I would have bought 5 newspapers it would have cost me $7.50 plus tax. Even though I only saved about $2.51 believe me, it was worth it. I also like clipping services like http://www.coupondede.com/, they have inserts from the beginning of this year and they also markdown coupons. I havent bought from them yet but maybe one day I will. You can also print coupons the following list are sites that offer coupons online: http://www.coupons.com/, http://www.smartsource.com/, http://www.redplum.com/, http://www.target.com/, http://www.walmart.com/http://www.walgreens.com/, http://www.cvs.com/. As you see almost every retailer offers online printable coupons. And don't forget target allows a combination of their target coupons with a manufacture coupon for even more savings. Next is how to get organized.  At first I was very unorganized and had coupons all over the place. I would put them in envelopes, in a coupon pouch, in my wallet, you name it. It was very frustrating and I just couldnt deal with that anymore. So I did what everyone eles was doing, I found a binder that was laying around in my closet since my college days, brand new ofcourse and headed out to the dollar store to buy baseball trading card protectors, or what others call plastic baseball card holders. At my dollar store the packet comes in 10 sheets for $1.00. Ive gone to Staples, Target and Walmart where I thought I'd find them cheaper but to be honest Dollar Tree had the best deal. With that said, I bought 10 packets that day and started clipping all my inserts. I began organizing my coupons into the slots by category. Foods in the front and non-foods in the back. I spent over 40 hours doing this. I kid you not. It took me almost a month to finish the whole thing. I also have work and other things I needed to do so I couldnt put much time into it as I wanted to. That was how I ended up with this....
This is the 2in binder I carry with me everywhere I go. I am starting to think I need a second binder. Its alot of time up front. If I can do it, so can you!

So now that you know the basics read my next post to know more about couponing.

Up date trip to Walmart....

This morning I woke up kind of late...I have no idea why I have been feeling this way. I guess work really gets the best of me. Anyways, I woke up just in time to meet the manager assistant at walmart for my giftcard. She was really nice. She apologized again for the inconvience and that was pretty much it. I didn't really stay to shop like I thought I would have. Reason why was because I was just not in my walmart spirit. I was bored and not in the mood to coupon shop there. I guess after what happend. So, I ended up just leaving. Overall, it was ok. Glad I got my giftcard for the $6.75 I was overcharged!

My trip to Walmart + my experience

I've been a customer at walmart for a very long time. As far as the eye can see =). I've loved their customer service, their prices and the variety of selection of different things they have . Well, as many of us have seen, walmart has now changed the way they sell. Their coupon policy has attracted us couponers to go shopping for more. But one thing I really never looked into was the way they looked at coupons and their fine print! What does that mean? What I meant was this. Coupons, well all of them, have fine print on them. Some say limit 1 per purchase, limit 1 per household limit this limit that.! They all have limits. What I didnt know was that Walmart defines "limit 1 per purchase" as limit one coupon per item in ONE transaction. What????? But....no! Here's my definition. Limit 1 per purchase equals I'm "purchasing" 10 of this item so I get to use 10 like coupons. Right or wrong? It makes sense. According to Coupon Mom, she agrees with my statement too. Click HERE to see for yourself! But then again, like she says, its up to the retailer. Anyways, I didn't know. So here is my trip to walmart....

8 plates
2 reach floss
18 carefree liners
10 ivory bars
4 kotex liners
2 johnson & johnson first aid kits

My calculations before I headed out (which was planned) $3.00
Total charged at walmart $18.75

What happend? Well here it is. Because of walmarts coupon policy cashier had to ask manager assistant #1 if it was ok to use the "limit 1 per purchase" on all the carefree liners which were all free or were supposed to be free. Manager assistant #1 said "yes." Manager assistant #2 came by and yelled at the cashier,"I told you not to use them like that. If coorporate calls you better give them names." Customer....heart sank! I totally felt bad by the way she yelled at the cashier. My goodness. Over a coupon you're going to yell and announce to the whole store? Wow! I guess the cashier got nervous after manager assistant #2 because I was not only overcharged $6.75, but I was charged for things I didn't have. Long story short, I was there for about an hour going back and forth to customer service and the manager that after that hour I gave up. I came home, did my math and thats how I found out I was overcharged. I emailed the store with my feedback. After a couple of days, I get a phone call about the email and was asked to call back. So yesterday I did. The manager assistant who I spoke with was really nice. She understood what went wrong, heard me out and offered me a $20.00 giftcard. How nice is that? Now I don't encourage you all to complain haha. But if something like this ever does happen to you, email the store with your feedback. After all, I know their customer service will improve. I havent gone back since this day. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see tomorrow when I go pick up my giftcard!
