My Ralphs trip today 4/27/11

So I decided that I try to really get good at coupon shopping with groceries. I can admit that I am not an expert but I am pretty good with household items but for some reason my grocery isn't all that great. So I gave it a try last night planning my trip for today and here is how it went....

1 Pedigree Dog Food 4.4lb- $3.99
2 Tony's pizza *$1.00 each* - $2.00
1 Uncle Ben's instant rice- Free with a coupon i recieved in the mail
1 Viva towels 6pk-$5.99
4 McCormick seasonings- *$1.00 each*- $4.00
3 Crest toothpast-*$1.00 each* -$3.00
3 Oral-B Toothbrush-*$1.00 each*-$3.00

Total before coupons and before my savings card-$54.86
Total after coupons and savings card-$6.44
Total after giftcard *this is the amount paid out of pocket* OOP-$1.44
Total savings-$52.37

I want to point out that I also used a giftcard I had recieved about 2 weeks ago for Ralphs cereal promotion of $5.00 and some coupons I recieved in the mail. I recieved a $5.00 off a bag of Pedigree food and the free pouch of Ben's rice. For the pizza, I went to tony's pizza online and printed out a $1.00/2 pizzas making them both $.50 each. For the viva towels, if you go on and like viva towels you can play their game and win up to $2.00 off. I passed the game up to level 3 so I got the $2.00 off. For the McCormick coupons, in one of the smartsource inserts was a $.75 cents off any spice, Ralphs doubles every coupon up to a $1.00 so I got all spices for free. The crest toothpaste coupon can be found in this months P&G insert. The picture has the crest pro-health toothpaste but if you read it carefully it states any crest toothpaste. Again the $.50 cents doubled up to a $1.00 making this item free. The oral-b coupons can be found in the P&G insert aswell.
In conclusion I did pretty good here for my first grocery trip using coupons. Didnt get much but $1.44 oop was a good deal. Overall each item costing $0.09 cents isnt bad after all.
